CLARE ELSBY

CLARE ELSBY

“Elsby & Co started from a back-bedroom in Northampton in 1993 and has grown to be a well respected regional accountancy and tax practice with an emphasis on staff development and excellent customer service. My accountancy training means I have a wide range of commercial experience and I have first-hand knowledge of running a business and all the challenges that this entails.

I also joined the Federation of Small Business (FSB) in 1993 and over the years have got more involved on a voluntary basis. In January 2019 I was elected as the Area Lead to represent FSB members in Northamptonshire, Rutland and Leicestershire and was proud to win the “Special Contribution” award at the Volunteer Awards in 2020 at a national ceremony.

I have recently been appointed to the FSB’s English Policy Unit representing the East Midlands region. The East Midlands is home to 12,900 FSB members and a strategically important region as covered by three LEP’s, with a population of more than 4.7 million people and an economic output of over £98bn. I also have to work with 45 local authorities and 46 members of Parliament!

I am passionate about small and medium sized businesses, which are the backbone of the UK economy and I am determined to see them recognized at the heart of government policy and in the local regions. The FSB, I believe, has the voice to make this happen.”
